The following is
a list of reasons why Cordoba is a prime city to visit:
-
As a large city, it is one of the best in Latin America.
-
Cordoba is considered the second most important city
in Argentina (Second only to Buenos Aires).
-
The city is well known for its abundance of bars, restaurants,
and shopping areas.
-
Cordoba does not normally have many tourists from outside
of the country. This means that you really get a chance
to experience the culture of Argentina on a day to day
basis.
-
Cordoba is a modern city which is also very safe and
cozy.
-
The climate is very mild, and is great any time of the
year.
-
From Cordoba, you can easily reach a variety of sites
in Argentina.
Plaza San Martin is the official
city center and is a good base to see most of the colonial attractions
like Iglesia San Roque, Basílica Nuestra Señora
de la Merced and the Basílica de Santo Domingo that lie
within a few quadrants. The commercial center is just north-west
of the plaza, where there are pedestrial malls. Just south of
downtown, Parque Sarmiento offers relief from the bustling,
densely packed city. But the largest open space is Parque General
San Martín, on the banks of the Suquía on the
north-western outskirts of town.
