BOLIVIA: ACTIVITIES
Bolivia
has much to offer the adventure traveler. Several white water
rivers located in the eastern parts of the Bolivian Andes offer
great opportunity for rafting and kayaking. These white waters
range from mild beginner to highly technical grade V waves. Along
the Royal Mountain range on the northeastern border of Bolivia
offer memorable kayaking opportunities.

The Madidi National Park is one of the world’s
most biologically diverse reserves. Here the wildlife is abundant
and varied, with sightings of monkeys, tamarinds and river otters
a common occurrence. There are also possibilities of spotting
tapirs, capybaras, caiman and jaguar.
Offroad
and mountain biking in Bolivia is a great activity for the adventurous
traveler. The dirt paths lead you to through multi colored canyons
and hills with breath taking view of the Andes and Cordillera.
Bolivia is a great destination for trekkers and
mountain climbers with a variety of climbing options. Trekking
along the ancient Inca trail in the Apolobamba mountain range
is a popular tourist activity. There are several choices of peaks
for mountain climbers including Condoriri, Pequeno Alpamayo, Huayna
Potosi and Illimani. Climbing to altitudes of 12,000-16,000 feet
is challenging and requires at least a moderate level of physical
fitness with some preparatory climbing to reach up to 18,000 feet.
Fishing is also very popular in Bolivia. Trout,
pacú, and dorados are abundant. There are several tours
for freshwater game fish like the Peacock Bass locally known as
Tucunare.
