of the most exciting Zip line tours offered in Costa Rica is just
a couple of miles from the Arenal Volcano. Run by Sky Treks, this
tour is highly recommended.
To start you will take a 15
minute tram ride to the top of the rainforest covered mountain.
Along the way the tram will stop and your guide will point out
interesting plant and animal life. You will have a great chance
to see various species of exotic birds and different types of
monkey.
At the top of the tram the
view of both the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal are stunning.
After you have enjoyed the
scenery you will then start you way down the mountain on a series
of cables. The total cable length down the mountain is approximately
2 miles. Your very first cable you will will shoot across a small
valley and at the center point you will be over 600 ft above the
canopy. The very last line on the route is over 1/4 of a mile
long. This tour is amazing!
There are also a variety of
smaller canopy or zip line tours around Arenal Volcano and La
Fortuna. These tours are also very exciting and allow you to get
to see some amazing rainforest areas along with local plant and
animal species.
