ACTIVITIES
Canopy
Tours
The canopy tour is a tourist
attraction that lets visitors explore the elevated ecosystem of
the rain forests with a birds eye view of the jungle's plant and
animal species. There are platforms built atop the massive canopy
trees of the forest and a ride similar to a ski lift that takes
passengers floating through the tree tops from one platform to
another. This provides an incredible view of the hundreds of species
of birds, animals, snakes, frogs and insects. Adventurous travelers
can spend a night in a tree house in the canopy.
Bungee Jumping
The
"vie jo puente sobre el Rio Colorado," is an old bridge
located over a 100 meter gorge. Jumps are usually done on weekends
but for small groups of people they can be arranged at other times
as well. The bungees that are used are about 30 meters long which
stretches to about 60 meters when it reaches its limit.
Ballooning
The wonderful tropical landscape
of Costa Rica provides for incredible balloon rides. Visitors
taking these balloon flights have multiple routes to choose from.
From scenic towns, coffee estates and farm lands to flights over
the paos volcano to the fantastic flight over the rain forests.
Multiday packages are offered for people who want to do all the
trips. Adventurous travellers can choose a combination of balooning
and other outdoor activities like rafting, biking or hiking.
Whitewater
Rafting
Jostling along the white water
in the midst of breathtaking scenery is a popular tourist activity
in Costa Rica. The options are unlimited whether you want to brave
the toughest white water rapids or paddle along smoothly flowing
rivers.
Fishing
Costa Rica is world famous
for deep sea fishing. The warm waters are home for numerous sport
fish such as striped marlin, blue marlin, sailfish, tuna, and
roosterfish to name a few. There is great fishing both on the
Pacific and the Caribbean side of the country.
Surfing
It
is not by accident that Costa Rica has become one of the best
surfing destination in he world, not only for its heaven-like
oceans, but also for its variety of surf sports, so close to each
other possibilities of getting total satisfaction from your surf
adventure are almost a hundred percent.
Mountain Biking
One operator is currently expanding
his operation and has begun developing several biking routes for
diehard enthusiasts who want to sweat and work it when on their
bikes. While there are routes that take as long as six-hours to
complete are also more moderate paths for those less-experienced
riders.
Horseback Riding
Horseback
riding in Costa Rica can take you along beaches, at the edge of
the country roads, through pastures and along forest trails. Riding
is great fun- once you get used the different saddle, stirrups
and neck-rein steering. Although not strictly necessary, a little
equestrian experience will stand you in good stead since ranch
horses are usually rounded up for trail duty.
