Hiking
Costa
Rica is a perfect destination for anyone interested in hiking.
The country is criss-crossed with trails. The scenery as amazing
and diverse. Choose from winding trails in the tropical lowlands
to steep trails in the Central Highlands. Hiking is one of the
great ways to really experience Costa Rica at its finest.
Costa Rica is home to numerous
national parks and all have some type of trails. Some treks may
last an hour our two, while others can extend more than a day.
Some of the more popular extended trails climb up some of the
many volcanoes spread throughout Costa Rica. Numerous tour companies
can help you plan your adventure.
Horseback
Riding
Horseback riding is an extremely
popular activity for local and visitor alike. Opportunities to
go riding are available in most parts of the country and are an
excellent way to get an up-close look at Costa Rica. As with hiking,
the trail rides can be as short as an hour or two, or can last
up to a few days. One of the more interesting rides is from the
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve to Volcan Arenal. It is an amazing
ride through pristine rainforest that terminates at the base of
one of the most active volcanoes in the world! \
Many tour operators and resort
offer horse back riding tours. Information for one of these tours
can be found all over Costa Rica.
Sailing
Trips
Costa Rica is famous for its warm
water and beaches. A variety of companies offer sailing trips
up an down the coast of the country. The waters are amazing and
the view of the beaches and coastline is amazing. Some longer
trips will head out to the Isla Cocos, which is a popular dive
site.
Scuba
Diving & Snorkeling
Costa Rica is famous for it underwater wonders.
Dive and snorkeling spots range from coral reefs close to shore
to the offshore island called the Isla Cocos. These spots are
home to a wondeful array of diverse marine life which include:
colorful corrals, shark, angel fish, dolphins, sea turtles, manta
rays, and much more!
The country offers something very every kind
of diver or snorkeler. Don't know how to scuba dive? Throughout
Costa Rica you will find some great dive shops with experienced
teachers and reasonable prices.

Sportfishing
Costa
Rica is a mecca for sport fishermen from all over the world. The
waters off the Pacific coastal areas are home to sailfish, marlin,
and many other sport fish.
Some of the more popular fishing
town include Quepos and Flamingo. Numerous outfits run trips throughout
the year. You can set up a trip prior to heading to Costa Rica
or set something up once you are in the country.
