FOOD AND DINING
The Flamingo Marina Resort's Sunrise
Cafe serves seafood, filet mignon, and the like. Also see the
nightly specials at the Flamingo Marina Resort's Monkey Bar (see
Entertainment).
Marie's Restaurant, tel. 654-4136, opposite the
entrance to the Flamingo Beach Resort, offers basic but tasty
seafood, plus daily specials and a large selection of sandwiches.
It also sells cappuccinos, lattes, mochas, and espressos ($1-2).
A nice touch is the burlwood tables with fish motifs.
The Bar/Restaurante/Disco Amberes, tel. 654-4001, up the hill,
serves continental and tipico dishes, with daily specials; it
opens at 5 P.M.
Ristorante Italiano y Pizzeria has a breeze swept
patio cafe on which to enjoy calamari rings ($10), avocado with
shrimp ($10), spaghetti al pesteo($7.50), and pizzas ($6-9). It
has happy hour daily 5-6:30 P.M. The upstairs bar at the Mariners'
Inn also features spaghetti with meatballs ($8), and grilled chicken
breast with heart of palm salad. The thatched roadside restaurante
at Hotel Guanacaste Lodge has appealing ambience and specializes
in paellas and Spanish dishes ($5-11).
Supermercado Flamingo is a well-stocked general
store at Plaza Que Pasa. The Surfside Way Liquor and Grocery Store,
tel. 654-4291, across from the marina on Playa Por1rero, specializes
in imported and gourmet foodstuffs. The marina office has a product
list-you can fax your order in and the store will deliver. Or
