TRANSPORTATION
Getting There and Away
Costa Rica has an extensive
road system. While the roads in many parts of the country are
not that good, it is still possible to get around this country
without too much difficulty. There a direct road links from San
Jose to Playa Flamingo. Over the past few years these roads have
been upgraded and so the ride is not too long if there is not
a lot of traffic.
Taxis: Taxis
are easily found throughout the country. By US or European standards
the costs are very reasonable. All taxis are red in color, with
the exception of those services the international airport in San
Jose.
Car:
Rental cars are available in Costa Rica. You can rent in San Jose,
or if you prefer at the Economy Rent-a-Car in Playa Flamingo.
On a day to day basis the use of a rental car will not be necessary.
Even most weekend excursions can be accomplished by using public
transportation. However sometimes renting a car can come in handy.
Check with the school to see if there are any discounts for students
available.
Bus:
Using the bus is one of the best and least expensive ways
to get around Costa Rica. There are bus routes throughout the
country and the service tends to be pretty regular and reliable.
Buses run regular routes between San Jose and Playa Flamingo.
If you are looking for something a little quicker it is possible
to take a private shuttle service. Contact our office for details.
Air: If you want to get to Playa Flamingo in a hurry you
can take a plane from San Jose. There is a small airfield in Playa
Tamarindo, which is about 40 minutes by car from Playa Flamingo.
