Playa Samara is located in Playa Sámara, 100 meters from
the Beach. In the tropical gardens, classes are held in open-sided,
palm-thatched "ranchos" which are breezy and cool, providing
an ideal spot for learning Spanish at the beach.
Each classroom is equipped with standard audio
equipment, whiteboard, and a large communal study space encouraging
didactic activities and easy participation. There are also a number
of air-conditioned rooms available for classes and audio-visual
exercises. The large swimming pool provides an ideal respite from
mid-day heat or for a quick swim during your break. Occasionally,
teachers take students outside the facilities to hold a conversation
hour on the beach under the shade of a palm tree, or on an ecological
trip such as dolphin watching, in order to practice Spanish "en
vivo" with local Costa Ricans.
Facilities include a large open-air stage used
for dance classes and film nights; a kitchen for cooking classes,
and several lounge and study areas, hammocks, and the tour services
area. The adjacent restaurant and tables provide ample places
to relax and chat with friends, drink coffee or try the delicious
fresh fruit shakes.
