TRANSPORTATION
Getting into and out of Tamarindo
Air:
SANSA
and Travelair have a daily service to Tamarindo for $170 (two-way).
SANSA also has an excursion flight between Tamarindo and La Fortuna
everyday. This costs about $86 (one-way). Papagayo Excursions
offers private air charters for about $380.
Bus:
There are buses departing San Jose everyday from
Calle 14, Avenidas 3/5 at 3.30 P.M. and from Calle 20, Avenida
3 at 4 P.M. Return buses depart Tamarindo from outside the Fiesta
del Mar at 5.45 A.M. and 6.45 A.M. Buy tickets in advance, especially
for weekends and holidays, as the crowds can get big. Buses depart
Santa Cruz daily at 10.30 P.M. and return from Tamarindo at 6.45
A.M. Interbus operates a daily shuttle bus between Tamarindo and
San Jose. We can set up your Interbus
tickets. Contact us for details.
Car:
Payless Car Rental has an office at the Hotel
Pueblo Dorado. Economy Rent-a-car has an outlet 200 metres east
of Plaza Colonial. And Alamo Rent-a-car is opposite Hotel Tamarindo
Diria. Scooters can be rented from Rent-a-Moto, (Ph. No. 653-0082)
at Luna Llena for $20 (half a day), $40 (full-day), $110 (3 days)
and $210 per week. Tienda Tamarindo also rents scooters.
Taxi:
Taxi service is sporadic. Hugo Retana (Ph. No.
653-0080) is available 24 hours.
