SANTO DOMINGO: BEACHES
 There
are some beaches very close to Santo Domingo. The most popular
beaches close to Santo Domingo are Juan Dolia and Boca Chica.

Boca
Chica
Boca Chica is just a short
15 minutes from Santo Domingo. It is a nice beach area and is
home to great hotels, restaurants, shops, and a marina. Due to
a large reef offshore the water between the beach and the reef
is very shallow and in essence has created a safe swimming area.
As such due to the safety of the water, the beach area is very
popular.
Juan
Dolio
Moving further from Santo Domingo
lies the beautiful beach of Juan Dolio. This beach area is located
50 minutes from Santo Domingo. The beach is great and there are
plenty of water activities available. Some of the more popular
activities include diving and snorkeling, sailing, waterskiing,
windsurfing and more. A great place to spend a relaxing afternoon.
La
Caleta
La Caleta is not actually
a beach area. It is however very popular with divers. The water
is clear and there are plenty of things to see. This area is located
a short distance from the airport.
