Christmas is a great time to
be in Cuenca. During this time there is a large parade called
the "Pase cdel Niño Viajero". If you are in town
you are in for a treat. This parade is considered by many to be
the best Christmas celebration in Ecuador. The festivities start
in the late morning at San Sebastian and finishes up at San Blas.
The process will run through a vareity of different Cuenca neighborhoods.
Musicians play music during the entire procession and each of
the different neighborhoods decorate their area, while kids run
around in various religious costumes.

New Year's Eve can be an interesting
time in Cuenca. It is a large celebration full of parades and
fiestas. A lot of fun.
The founding of Cuenca is celebrated each year
from April 10-13. Throughout the days are processions, art competitions
and many other events.
During the month of June the town celebrates
the religious festival Corpus Christi. This festival takes place
over the course of a week. At night many people head to the Plaza
Calderon to socialize, listen to music and watch the fireworks.
There are many other activities going on during this time. So
if you are in town, you are in for a treat.
November 3rd independence is celebrated. Visitors
have the chance to watch street theater, see dancing, listen to
music, eat some great food and just have a lot of fun hanging
out with the locals.
There are other events and activities in Cuenca,
but the above are some of the biggest and best held each year.
