all these events.
Even if you prefer to do something on your own, the staff at
the Spanish school will still help you out.
Here is one example of a particularly popular excursion:
Visiting the Saquisili Indian Market
The
Thursday morning market in Saqusili is a very popular and interesting
place to visit. For starters just getting there is exciting! On
the drive south you have a chance to see magnificent snow covered
volcanoes such as the majestic Cotopaxi. The Andes are fantastic
and traveling through windy roads and see snow covered volcanoes
is quite an experience. On a clear day you will have a chance
to see 9 of Ecuador's 10 highest mountains.
When
a trip to this markets is scheduled, you along with other students
at the Spanish school will travel with your instructors to the
market. This Indian market is considered to be one of the most
important and interesting in Ecuador. Interestingly this market
is not heavily geared towards the tourist market, so you will
have an opportunity to see what the locals do. Inhabitants from
villages and towns around Saquisili come to the market to purchase
everything from pigs to ponchos.
In
a setting such as this you will have a chance to put your newly
acquired language skills to work. Consider the market to be your
open air classroom. You will have the opportunity to listen and
learn first hand about how Spanish is used in everyday life.
The markets is spread out over eight different
plazas, each specializing in a specific type of product.
This trip is always rated very highly. |
