Overview of Spanish Language Immersion Program
The Spanish language immersion programs offered by Spanish
Abroad, Inc. are designed to enable you to speak Spanish as rapidly
as possible. At our various Spanish language schools, you will
have the opportunity to choose from small classes, individual
instruction, or a combination of both options. At some of our
Spanish language schools, specialized Spanish immersion programs are available for
doctors, nurses, lawyers, corporate executives, business people, MBA's, etc.
In the classroom, teaching techniques will focus
on the communicative approach to learning and studying Spanish. From day one
you will begin working on improving your conversational skills.
Generally speaking, the process for novices begins by covering
basic topics such as who you are, where you live, etc. As
Spanish language students begin to learn and become more proficient in Spanish, topics may range from economics
to politics. As you explore new topics, you will find yourself
quickly learning new vocabulary and grammar, and how to effectively
use them. In a very short period of time you will find that you
will be able to effectively communicate in Spanish!
Why Are Spanish Language Immersion Programs
The Most Effective Way For Individuals To Learn Spanish?
With a Spanish language immersion program,
language learning
does not stop when you leave the classroom. Since you are living
in a country where Spanish is the first language, you will have
to utilize what you learned and studied in class, out on the streets. Just
going to the store to buy a Coke means that you will have to use
Spanish. Though challenging at first, in no time you will quickly
acquire the Spanish language skills needed to deal with this,
and far more difficult situations in Spanish dominant countries.
Why Do Your Spanish Language Skills Increase
At Such A Rapid Rate?
Because you are using Spanish all day, every
day! Remember, the only way to really learn a language is to practice
it. When you participate in an Spanish language immersion program
you will have plenty of time, and countless opportunities to practice
your Spanish language skills.
Why Are Homestays With Local
Families Offered As Part Of A Spanish Language Immersion Program?
A major reason why Spanish language immersion
programs are so effective relates to the fact that you have the
opportunity to live with a host family (some locations offer apartment
and/or other options as well). All host families (and any other
accommodation options available) are located, approved and overseen
by each respective immersion language school.
When staying with a host family, you will have
the chance to practice the Spanish you learned in class in a natural
family setting. Because of their interest in your progress, you
will find that staying with a host family is a non-threatening
environment where you can practice and improve your Spanish. As
your relationship with the host family grows, your motivation to learn
Spanish will increase.
Another great benefit of staying with a host
family relates to the fact that in many cases, you will find yourself
participating in family activities. As one former student stated:
"In my immersion program, the host family I had was great!
They took me to restaurants, local markets, professional soccer
matches, and on various trips within the city and its surrounding
areas. Thanks to my host family, my Spanish language skills rapidly improved,
and I now have a much better understanding of the local culture".
