| Puerto Escondido is well
known for the beaches in the immediate area. Below is a brief
overview of some of the more popular ones.
Please
note that additional info (prices, activities, etc) are found
to the right of this pages.
Playa Bacocho: Located
on the eastern edge of Puerto Escondido this beach is probably
the longest. Typically Playa Bacocho is not too terribly crowded
and is reached by car or by boat. It is possible to get refreshments
and food on this beach.
Playa Zicatela:
This beach is world famous for the surfing. Home to the Mexican
Pipeline, surfers from all over the world come here to test their
skills. There is always something going on at this beach. Surfers
should be experienced if they want to try the Mexican Pipeline.
The area is always full of people watching the activity on the
waves.
Playa Principal: This is where you will find
the boats. Fishing boats come and go every day. Hang out and you
can buy some fresh fish. This is also the place where you can
get on a tour boat and move up and down the coastline. If deep
sea fishing is what you are interested in, there are plenty of
charter boats available.
Playa Marinero:
This beach is located just to the side of Playa Principal and
is the area where people go if they just want to swim. The beach
is protected from the big waves, so you typically won't run into
any problems when swimming. Refreshments on the beach are available.
The above are the main beaches you will enjoy
in Puerto Escondido. As you move up and down the coastline you
will find many more! Enjoy!
