Going by air is the quickest
and most efficient way to get to and from Puerto Escondido. You
can fly directly into Puerto Escondido or to Huatuclo (1.5 hours
to the south by car). Puerto Escondido has direct flights to and
from Mexico City, Oaxaca and from select US cities. Huatulco is
the big resort town in the area and as such there are an abundance
of flights into that town. A cab from Huatulco is approximately
$50 USD. You can also catch a bus.

By Bus
Buses run everywhere in Mexico and are the cheapest
way to travel. Buses run day and night. If you have a choice take
the Primero Clase (First Class). It is worth the extra money for
the extra comfort. A trip from Oaxaca is 8 hours, about 4 hours
from Acapulco, and 12 from Mexico City.
By Car
You can also take your own car into Mexico and
drive to Puerto Escondido. Make sure you have a good map and stick
to the main highways. It can be an interesting adventure.
By Taxi
In Puerto Escondido you will find walking to
be the easiest way to get around. However if you are in a hurry
or are going across town just take a taxi. They are cheap. Just
make sure to negotiate a price before you get in the taxi.
