 Classes
are 60 minutes in length. Students enroll for 4 hours a day. Students
may enroll for as many weeks as desired. In order to make sufficient
progress and gain the maximum benefit from the course we recommend
the following minimal duration: Beginner
(2-12 weeks), Intermediate (4-8 weeks) and Advanced (2-8 weeks).
Handling of advanced
and superior levels of Spanish: Pre-approved subject material
is possible for both advanced-superior students who need specialized
vocabulary (lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc). If the student wants
to study literature they should try to bring texts with them and
give advanced notice.
Arrival first day
of class: 8:25am
Placement test:
First day of class. Oral and a written test. Usually able
to have two hours of classes the first day, depending on the number
of students.
Orientation:
First Monday. A talk about school facilities, homestays, language
program, cultural info, do's & don'ts, city tour of Cusco.
Class schedule:
 Low
season: 8:30-10:30, break from 10:30-11:00, 11:00-13:00.
High season:
also afternoon session 14:00-16:00, break from 16:30-18:30, School
closed for siesta from 13:00-14:00.
Teachers' schedules:
Rotated every week. Friday exam given to place appropriately for
following week.
Getting to school
the first day: The host family takes the student to school
the first day (walking or driving).
