Group Spanish Immersion Program in Guanajuato, Mexico

Looking at Guanajuato from a distant hillside you'll see a panorama of colored houses layered on the sides of ravines. This charming setting with its history, tradition, culture, gorgeous architecture and mild climate make Guanajuato for many, Mexico's finest colonial city.

For centuries Guanajuato was the most important silver city in Mexico, more recently it is better known as a university city. The extravagant State University is now one of the most prestigious in Mexico and during school time; the student population makes the city a vibrant place.

The International Festival Cervantino is one of Latin America's most important arts festival, attracting around 150,000 visitors annually. It has been held in Guanajuato every October since 1972 as a homage to the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes (who wrote Don Quixote). Artists converge from all over the world to perform in recitals, concerts, plays, ballet, contemporary dance and opera in the city's wonderful colonial buildings and plazas (especially the gilded Teatro Juárez). There are also many art exhibitions at Festival Cervantino and really sets the tone for the cultural and artistic significance of the city.

Guanajuato is great for groups with its quaint feel and many of its major sites are within walking distance of the school. It offers a full immersion environment as well as an opportunity to learn about Mexican culture and art.

don Quijote - Guanajuato

Don Quijote opened its first school in Spain in 1989, and today has a reputation as one of the finest Spanish Languages Schools. This reputation has helped to bring students from all over the world to study Spanish at the various Don Quijote schools. The lessons at the Don Quijote schools are lively and varied. The emphasis is on conversation but, of course, Don Quijote also pays attention to grammar, reading, listening and writing.

Courses

Group Classes 3 Lessons per Day (Maximum 8 Students per Class)

This course is offered at one level for every 8 students registered. Through various activities, practices and exercises, designed for each level, you will gradually acquire and develop the necessary strategies to understand and communicate in Spanish both orally as well as written.

Accommodations

Mexican Host Family:
Students will live with local families in order to receive a full immersion environment. This will allow them to practice their Spanish in an everyday setting. The host family will provide 3 meals per day for the students which will allow for additional time to practice their Spanish through conversations at meal time. There will be up to two students per bedroom and in almost all cases there will be 2 or more students at one host family.
