Autotransportaciones
Aeropuerto (Phone: 3/812-4278 or 3/812-4308) is a combi
(VW minibus) and taxi service to and from anywhere in the Guadalajara
area. Fares, based on distance from the airport, range from $8
to $12 for up to three people going to the same destination. At
the airport, buy a ticket at the booth outside the terminal exit.
Going to the airport, a regular city taxi should charge similar
fares, though they are not allowed to pick up passengers at the
airport.
By Car
The Chapala Highway 23 (also
numbered 44) -- a well-paved four-lane thoroughfare -- stretches
north from the airport to the city. Slow-moving caravans of trucks,
and weekend recreational traffic can delay the 30-minute trip.
Departure Tax
Mexico
charges an airport departure tax of US$18 or the peso equivalent
for international and domestic flights. This tax is usually included
in the price of your ticket, but check to be certain. Traveler's
checks and credit cards are not accepted at the airport as payment
for this.
