| The University of Guadalajara
was founded in 1792 and is the second biggest university in Mexico.
The modern university has six separate campuses in the Guadalajara
area, each specializing in a different area of study, and five
outside the metropolitan zone. In all, it caters to the needs
of approximately 185,000 students.
The
university has developed a department devoted to the needs of
their international students, Centro de Estudios Para Extranjeros
(CEPE). The University of Guadalajara prides themselves on their
capacity to train students who are willing to close the gap between
cultures and able to benefit from the diversity and openness that
this offers. CEPE provides students with a rigorous and challenging
program, taught by a committed and respected University faculty,
affording them unique opportunities to expand their classroom
experience and enhance their academic pursuits.
CEPE was established in Guadalajara in 1948.
Though part of the university, CEPE is located in a separate building
away from the rest of the university in a beautiful residential
area of Guadalajara. The facilities are some of the nicest you
will find anywhere in Latin America. From the steps of the school,
one is only blocks away from virtually everything of interest
in Guadalajara.
By
choosing to study at CEPE students become part of a tradition
of academic excellence, accompanied by the warmth and hospitality
that characterizes Mexican culture. CEPE enjoys the reputation
of being among the finest accredited University Programs of Spanish
language and Latin American Culture in the world. A walk through
CEPE reveals a rich diversity of students and faculty members.
In the classrooms, laboratories and libraries, people from many
different countries, of different races and beliefs come together
to pursue a common objective: to learn Spanish and Latin American
culture.
The University of Guadalajara offers programs
all year long. Class schedules enable students to select a program
of study that comes closest to their personal needs. Results in
the placement test will determine which programs students have
access to. Each course last for fifty minutes and earns 3 university
credits. The school has morning and afternoon classes from Monday
through Friday. Students take classes with other foreign students
in groups of no more than 15. |
