International Student
Support
International students have access to a wide
range of services at the university. These services include access
to libraries, computer labs, and sports and/or recreational facilities.
There are also extracurricular activities, student discount cards
and access to weekend excursions and trips the International Student
Office.
Student ID card
All students will receive a student ID card from the university
of Salamanca. This card allows students to use school facilities
for free and access museums and activities for a reduced price.
Medical Insurance
All students registered in the international courses are covered
by medical insurance with the private insurance company SANITAS.
This coverage is valid for the entire period registered and is
only valid in the Spain.
This insurance includes medical attention; in
case of hospitalization it covers surgery and costs incurred during
treatment. However, this insurance does not include medication
on an outpatient basis.
The address and telephone for medical assistance
are located on the back of the student ID card.
In case of an emergency, go directly to the emergency
room of the private hospital, Santisirna Trinidad located on the
comer of Avenida de Villamayor and the A venida de Alemania.
Library
Students have free access to the university libraries. Student
I.D must be presented in order to access library facilities. The
closest library is Santa Maria de Los Angeles, at the end of the
calle Libreros.
Guided visits to
the city
Cursos Internacionales offers free-guided visits to the city for
enrolled students. An expert (the art professor) in art history
will to take you to the most important monuments in Salamanca.

Gym
Access to the University facilities is free with ID.
Internet
Internet access is available at no charge in the library, however
long lines are very common and one must sign up days in advance
to schedule a time. Internet cafes are more convenient.
Intercambios
The language exchange is a great way to meet and practice speaking
skills with local Spaniards.
Academic Credit
Studying at the University of Salamanca gives students the chance
to earn between 12-15 semester hours or 20-25 quarter units. Transcripts
are provided and we will send out a complete description of the
courses you took plus the grades you received while studying at
the University of Salamanca to your advisor. Your advisor at your
university will then make the final determination as to how to
apply the classes you took in Spain.
Class Change Rules
If you wish to change any of your classes, you should speak with
the Jefe de Estudios (Head of Studies, office number C-21). Class
changes will only be possible after the written permission from
the Jefe de Estudios.
Office Hours: October 3rd, 4th and 5th. from 11:00 to 12:00.
Important Academic Notice
Attendance of at least 90% of all classes in which there are registered
is mandatory. Students with attendance of less than 90% WILL NOT
receive either the Certificate of Attendance of the Certificate
of Evaluation. Partial certificates of individual subjects will
not be issued. There are no exceptions.
Professors' Office Hours
If you need extra help, you have the opportunity to meet with
your professors outside class. They will be available three hours
weekly. Each professor will inform you when and where at the beginning
of the semester.
