SEMESTER MODULES

Pontificia Universidad Catolica de ValparaisoThe semester program at Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso allows intermediate and advanced students to take classes in the Spanish language and elective courses with locals. Students are required to take Communicational Spanish (90 hours) and Spanish Composition (46 hours). Students will participate in an orientation week where they will be tested on their knowledge of Spanish. The results will enable advisors to help students chose which electives with locals would be best for them. You will be able to enroll courses in the following subject areas: Agriculture, Art and Music, Sciences, Business and Economics, Geography, Law, Journalism, and Religious Studies. The contact hours for your elective will depend upon the elective(s) for which you have enrolled upon arrival at the university. Students can take a maximum of 3 elective courses (in addition to the required communication and composition classes.)

The semester/year long program at Universidad Catolica is best suited for the intermediate to advanced students. The semesters are 20 weeks long and allow students to take elective courses only in Spanish with local students. None of the classes are taught in English. If you do not have a sufficient level of Spanish it is possible to enroll in an immersion program prior to your classes at Universidad Catolica.
