three main futbol teams are Real Madrid, Atletico de Madrid, and
Rayo Vallecano. When Real Madrid and Atlético play in the
first division, the Spanish Football League normally ensures that
they play at home on alternate weekends. Whilst the majority of
games are played on Sunday, starting at 5 p.m. in winter and 7
p.m. in summer, matches are often scheduled for Saturdays to allow
teams to prepare mid-week.
Real Madrid
Real Madrid, some would
say the best football team of the 20th Century, plays at the famous
Santiago Bernabéu stadium located near the Paseo de Castellana.
The Bernabéu Stadium has capacity for around 75,000 seated
spectators and was built in 1947.

Visits to the stadium and the
Trophy Room (Sala de Trofeos) are possible from Tuesday to Sunday,
10.30 a.m. - 7.30 p.m. Each visit costs 500 pesetas for adults,
and 300 pesetas for children. Tickets may be obtained from the
ticket office at the stadium itself, near the Sala de Trofeos.
Tickets for Real Madrid games
can be obtained by calling (+34) 902-324-324. If you need an English-speaking
operator they will provide one. Tickets generally go on sale several
days before each game. Tickets can be paid for over the phone
with a credit card and later collected at Taquilla 14 (Gate 14)
at the stadium on the day of the game.

Atlético de
Madrid
Atlético's home
field is at the Vicente Calderon Stadium inaugurated in 1966.
The stadium seats over 55,000 spectators. Tickets to games can
be bought at the stadium ticket offices starting at 11.00 a.m.
on the day of the match.

Rayo Vallecano play
at the Teresa Rivero stadium inaugurated in 1976. The stadium
has a capacity of just over 15,000 seats. Tickets to games may
be obtained at the stadium ticket offices between 5.30 p.m. and
8.30 p.m. and normally go on sale one week before each game.
