Cordoba is located in the southern portion of Spain known as Andalucia.
Cordoba is a moderate large city with around 360,000 residents.
The city is a secure and calm city which makes it an ideal location
for a Teen Summer Program in Spain. Cordoba has a lot to offer
with various traditional festivals and events. The city is quite
modern while at the same time having many well know monuments.
The weather is warm throughout the year which is typical of Andalucia.
The Spanish language school
that hosts high school Spanish students during the summer is centrally
located in two Cordoban-Style buildings with patios adorned with
plants and flowers. The Spanish school offers 18 classrooms for
Spanish courses, a library/conference room and a self-access centre.
The Spanish school is conveniently
located in the center of the old and new town, making distances
to the main monuments, shopping centres and teen accommodations
all within walking distance.
The
Spanish school also shared the facilities with local school of
modern languages for local students, which creates the ideal atmosphere
for students to meet via the get-to-gethers, discussion groups,
and competitions that are organized by the schools.
The Spanish school also
has an agreement with the bistro beside the school that makes
it possible to organize many activities for the students to get
to know each other.
The teen Spanish program in Cordoba, Spain is ideal for high school
students as it combines learning Spanish with a wide range of
(mainly outdoor) activities. All high school Spanish students
are placed in an authentic Spanish environment from day one, so
they receive the greatest possible benefit from their stay.

Teen Program Spanish Courses
The teen program's minimum length is 2 weeks and a maximum
program length of 6 weeks (we recommend students stay at least
3 weeks to get the most out of their stay). Students receive
4 Spanish lessons per day with each Spanish lesson lasting 55
minutes each. This equals 20 lessons of Spanish each week. Typical
Timetable: Monday to Friday 9:00AM-1:00PM
Teen Spanish Program Activities
and Excursions
The Teen activity program in Cordoba takes place
in the evening from Monday to Friday and all events are conducted
exclusively in Spanish. The teen Spanish program in Cordoba includes
excursions, trips to the swimming pool, sports, fiestas, handicrafts,
and guided visits. All high school student activities are supervised
by the teen program monitors.
There is a full day excursion offered
on Saturday for all high school students. Sundays are set aside
as an off day that students can spend with their host families
and practice the Spanish that they have learned throughout the
week.

Teen Program Host Family
The host families that are
assigned for the high school students enrolled in the Teen Summer
Spanish program in Cordoba are very welcoming and hospitable.
The host families provide their students with a means of integrating
and learning about the local culture while at the same time providing
a means of practicing their Spanish outside the classroom. The
starting date for the host family accommodations is the Sunday
before the starting date of the course, and accommodations end
on the Saturday after the course ends.

Supervision
Cordoba is a relatively small city. All major points
of interest are within walking distance of the school and host
family accommodations. The students need to still pay special
attention with their belongings when walking around town but the
city is safe by many standards.
All
students coming to Cordoba, Spain for the Teen Spanish Program
are expected to have the highest maturity level possible for their
age group. There will be times when students will be unsupervised.
Teens will be supervised when at school, at the host families
home, during activities and excursions.. There are other times
when they are not completely supervised and the students need to be mature in order to act appropriate in these instances.
When travelling to and from school the teens
will not be supervised. All host familes are within walking distance
from the school, so they will not rely on the public transportation
system when going to/from school. Curfew is set at 11PM for all
high school students and they will be expected to be at their
respective homes before this time.
