Salamanca
Teen Program Spanish Courses
Spanish classes are split between
formal class room instruction and actual application of the Spanish
language. These different sections
are known as Grammar and Vocabulary, and Practical activities
as described below.
Grammar and Vocabulary
(10 lessons per week):
The formal classroom lessons give the students all of
the basic vocabulary and grammar tools that they
may need to communicate outside of class. Vocabulary is presented with
brief explanations of grammatical concepts and structural exercises.
Each lesson focuses on day-to-day conversations that the
students will encounter outside of the classroom, with their friends,
or Spanish host family.
Practical
Activities (10 lessons per week):
Learning every day Spanish is the most important part of a Spanish
Immersion Program. The practical activity portion of the Spanish
course is designed to reinforce grammar and vocabulary. This allows students to interact in everyday situations outside of the classroom. These
practical Spanish applications help the students develop reading,
writing, and oral skills in the language.
The practical
activities include visits to stores, markets, and historical throughout the city. Students prepare for
the practical activities beforehand in the classroom incorporating
the vocabulary and phrases they are learning in the other portion
of the course. The Spanish teacher leads the Spanish activities
and students work in pairs. The activities are completed with
a class report and group discussion.
