Our Costa Rica Teen Spanish program in San Jose is located
in the suburb of Santo Domingo de Heredia. The site of this
Costa Rica Teen Spanish program has been the ideal for high school students
to learn Spanish as it provides a safe Costa Rica town in a
fully immersed environment.
Costa Rica is one of the best countries for Teens to learn Spanish as it is very safe and its natural settings provide for exciting activities and a peaceful environment to enjoy outside of class.
High school students that learn Spanish in San Jose, Costa
Rica during the summer study in a metropolitan city area with very few
tourists. Having fewer tourists in the San Jose area
provides a perfect Spanish learning environment. High School
Students attending our Teen Spanish Program in San Jose can
experience the local language without being influenced by their
native language while
in Costa Rica.
Since the Spanish language school that hosts the Costa Rica
Teen Spanish Program is located in a quaint suburb
of San Jose, your children will be within 5-20 minutes walking
distance to the Spanish school. You can request if you want them in the home with another teen or not.
Teen Spanish Course in San
Jose, Costa Rica
The
Costa Rica teen Spanish courses time table is from 2:00-6:30 with
a half hour break Monday to Friday. All teachers at the Spanish
language school in San Jose are native Spanish speakers.
The high school students at the teen program in Costa Rica will
learn Spanish in a fully immersed class room and are taught completely in Spanish. There is a maximum of 5 Spanish
students per Spanish class in San Jose, providing a quaint interactive
experience between the teacher and students. The format of the
Teen Spanish instruction in Costa Rica is identical to that of the Spanish
Program for adults. The Costa Rica teen program activities are
arranged in the morning and/or evening.

Student Accommodations
Costa Rica host families are known for their hospitality and our Teen Summer Spanish program in Costa Rica picks the best and most experienced host families to host the teens in the summer. Accommodation at the teen Spanish program includes 3 meals per day.
Accommodations will start on Sunday, the day before classes begin and will end on the Saturday after classes are over with the previous Friday night included. The Costa Rica Teen Program in San Jose also includes airport
transfer on arrival and departure in and out of San Jose by a
Spanish language school representative.
High School Spanish students
at the Costa Rica Teen program will be placed in a Costa Rican
host family with another student unless they request to be placed
in a Costa Rican Host family by themselves.
On weekend tours, the high school Spanish students will stay in hotels and
share rooms with other teens of the same gender that
are also attending the San Jose Teen Summer Spanish Program. High
school students studying in Costa Rica are NOT permitted to go out at night by
themselves after 10 PM. This is the #1 rule on the Rules for Minors
form.
If a student misses curfew, the host family will report
this issue to the school and the student will be brought up for
review and possible expulsion from the Costa Rica teen program depending on the
circumstances.

San Jose Teen Spanish Program
The Costa Rica Teen Spanish
program in San Jose runs from June 14 - July 24th. Students can
start the program on any Monday. It is requested that students
register
for at least two weeks to receive the optimum experience, but
one week Teen Spanish programs are available in San Jose.
Teen program students will be expected
to arrive in Costa Rica on Sunday and depart on Saturday. Extra nights and meals
can be arranged at the host family if needed, which cost an additional
$40 per night. If a high school student requests to extend their
program through a weekend so that they can take part in an excursion,
they will need to pay $335 to cover accommodations and activites
included in the excursion.

and Excursions in Costa Rica
While the Spanish Immersion courses
play the major role in our Teen Spanish Programs in Costa Rica,
the activities and excursions add
an entertaining venue to meet local Costa Ricans,
learn about the local culture, and also practice Spanish outside
the class room setting. We set our teen program apart from many others by offering the activites and excursions included in the program cost so there is no confusion as to what is provided with the program and you are not forced to pay fees you did not expect.
Students will receive all excursions given in the itinerary schedule provided at the link below within their scheduled dates. The teen program is held with a Sunday arrival and Saturday departure, students can take part in an excursion at the end of their program and will need to pay $335 to cover additional accommodations and activites
included in the excursion. Please consult us for appriopriate departure dates and times if you want to make this arrangement.
The students enrolled in the Costa Rica Teen Spanish Summer
program will be able to visit the beautiful natural settings and warm people that Costa Rica is known for. Whether the teens
are hiking a volcano, playing on the beach, or learning
how to Salsa, they will have plenty of time to practice the
Spanish they learned in the classroom in a more practical setting.
Activities
take place either in the morning or in
the evening around class times and when students are not at
home eating which is typically the best time to interact with
their Costa Rican host family. Excursions are arranged on
every weekend, which allow for the students to take a break from their
Spanish studies and leave the city to see Costa Ricas bounty
of wildlife and National Parks.

Arrival
into San Jose, Costa Rica for High School Students
High school students will arrive
in San Jose where a representative from the school will meet them
and accompany them to their host family. Please provide your student's
arrival and departure information at least two weeks prior to
the start of their Costa Rica Teen Program so that we can properly
arrange the arrival and departure transfers which are included
in the San Jose Teen Spanish program.
San
Jose Teen Program Supervision
The Teen Spanish Program in Costa Rica provides
a moderate amount of supervision. Your teens are expected to be
mature and able to follow all of the rules provided in the Rules
for Minors form at the time of registration. The host family that
are chosen for the Spanish Language Teen Program in Costa Rica
are selected due to their proximity to the school as well as their
ability to accommodate the specific needs and attention of the
teens in the Spanish program.
High school Spanish students will be supervised
while at the school, at the host families home, and during teen
program activities and excursions. They will not be supervised
when walking to and from the host families home which is why we
require your students to have an exceptional maturity level. Santo
Domingo de Heredia is a safe residential area relative to the
large city of San Jose which in general is also safe in comparison
to large cities in the U.S. and Latin America. All host families
will be 5-20 minutes walking distance from the Spanish language
school in Costa Rica.
The host family might take the high school students
out in the evenings, however Spanish students will NOT be allowed
to go out in the evenings without a member of their or a fellow
student's host family during entirety of the San Jose Spanish Camp.
