El
Puerto de Santa María is situated on the Cadiz coast within
the Bay of Cadiz, to the south of San Cristóbal mountain
range. Cádiz has a total of 22 kms of coast. El Puerto
de Santa María is renowned for its beaches with a total
16kms of coast. All of the beaches are filled with golden sand
blessed with a multitude of sun thoughout the year.
The Spanish Language School
which hosts the teen Spanish program in El Puerto (as known by
locals) was founded in 1986. The school is accredited by the Instituto
Cervantes the which is the highest authority in the teaching of
the Spanish Language.
The Spanish language school has been recently
renovated and the actual school building comes in at over 5000
Square feet. The building has 9 rooms for Spanish classes, a study
room with computers that have internet access, Library, meeting
room, and a kitchen. The
Spanish Language school in El Puerto de Santa Maria meets all
requirements necessary for a private language school. The Spanish
school also offers air conditioned class rooms which is a must
during the hot Summers of Southern Spain
The Spanish language school in El Puerto de Santa
Maria is located in a very specific area of the new town center
near both the bull ring, the main shopping zone, and the beach.
This provides a safe and secure environment for high school students
to experience their Summer Spanish program as there are constantly
people in the area.
El
Puerto Teen Spanish Program Courses
The Teen Spanish Courses consist of 20 classes
per week. The Spanish classes for the High School Students begin
at 9:30am and continue until a break at 11:00am . The second session
begins at 11.20am and class finishes at 12.45pm . During the
lessons the teens will learn the five different aspects of the
Spanish language including: listening, reading, writing, grammar
and most importantly speaking .
All of the Spanish teachers that form the teaching
staff at the Spanish language program for high school students
are professionals with more than 3 years of experience and continue
their training by attending courses on a regular basis focused
on their needs in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. All
of the Spanish teachers for the Teen Spanish Program at the Spanish
school in El Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain have University degrees
in Spanish Philology.
Teen
Spanish Program Activities and Excursions
Upon
arrival all high school Spanish students receive a folder that
contains a full listing of all the activites and excursions that
they will participate in during the Teen Spanish Program. Included
with the information is an overview of each activities accompanied
by illustrations for the given teen activity.
On
the first day all high school students enrolled in the teen Spanish
program in Puerto de Santa Maria will take a tour of the historical
city center. The high school students will be able to review their
activity orientation information and to read a little about the
extensive history of the city, which makes the explanation of
the city given by the guide more enjoyably and interesting. This
informative approach is carried over to all activities and provides
an educational basis beyond a standard sight-seeing tour and allows
students to realize the importance of the locations.
Teen
Spanish Program Host Family in Spain
All high school students attending
the Teen Spanish program in El Puerto de Santa Maria Spain will
be placed in specially selected host families. These Spanish families
have years of experience and know how to communicate with Spanish
students. The host families that or offered through the teen Spanish
program provide familiar and friendly attention that makes the
teen feel like they are part of the family.
All host families selected for the teen Spanish program are situated
in the same areas, near the school and a maximum of 20 minutes
walking distance from the school. The host families are in constant
contact with the Spanish language school that hosts the high school
students and they will have meetings before the arrival any students
enrolled in the teen Spanish program. The host families follow
all special instructions provided by the teen program monitor.
These instructions are based on the age of the students and any
special requests related to the individual high school student.

Special attention is given based on any specific needs related
to meals provided by the host family. If the high school student
is a vegetarian or allergic to certain types of foods, the host
family will take note and prepare for the required dieteary needs.
All special requests must be designated at the time of registration.
Spanish students will have all three meals each day.
High School Spanish Student Arrival
The Spanish language school provides a free airport
pickup from the Jerez de la Frontera airport. All high school
students enrolled in the teen Spanish program will receive a quick
transfer from Jerez de la Frontera to their host family accommodations
in El Puerto de Santa Maria. All high school students must arrive
on a Sunday and depart on a Saturday.
High
School Spanish Student Supervision
El Puerto de Santa Maria is small town. All
major points of interest are within walking distance of the school
and host family accommodations.
All
high school Spanish students coming to El Puerto de Santa Maria,
Spain for the teen Spanish program are expected to have the highest
maturity level possible for their age group. There will be times
when students will be unsupervised. Teens will be supervised when
at school, at the host families home, during activities and excursions.
There are other times when travelling to and from school that
they will not be supervised. All host familes are within walking
distance from the school, so they will not rely on the public
transportation system when going to/from school.
Students must follow the rules listed in the
rules form minors form that must be signed and returned prior
to the start of the Teen Spanish Program in El Puerto de Santa
Maria.
