Spanish Abroad is proud to introduce the Spanish Camp in Cadiz for the Summer of 2011. This Spanish camp is an extension of our Teen Spanish Program in Sevilla which has been one of our most popular teen programs over the past decade.
Our Spanish camp is located right in the city center, in the stunning neighborhood of Bahia Blanco and a stone's throw from the cities amazing beaches. The Spanish school that hosts the program will offer their full immersion courses with 4 lessons of instruction per day with their highest quality Spanish instructors.
Cadiz is a relatively small city in comparison to our other Summer Spanish Camp locations with just over 100,000 inhabitants and is surrounded by expansive beaches. This environment combined with host family accommodations within walking distance to the Camp will provide your teen with a safe and fun-filled environment. The teens will also have multiple activities available in close proximity. Cadiz is a University town, so the general atmosphere is youthful and energetic which will keep your teen excited about daily living in the city.
Cadiz boasts being one of the oldest cities in Europe and dates back to Phoenician times. The city is steeped in history with architecture dating back to Roman and the Moorish rule of Spain. There are many stunning plazas, castillos, and a Roman Theatre to complement the cities 3 magnificent beaches. These sites of interest provide an amazing history lesson to supplement camp activities.
Cadiz Spanish Camp Courses
The Camp's Spanish Courses consist of 20 classes
per week. The Spanish classes begin
at 9:15 am and continue until 1:00 pm with a 25 minute break included. The courses will be taught in full Spanish immersion with an emphasis on conversation skills
The Spanish school will provide the highest qualified teachers in Spain who are reviewed by an independent Spanish institute to ensure their abilities as instructors. All teachers have at least 3 years of experience as well as on-going training in the latest methodologies of Spanish instruction and lesson plan development.
Your teen will be tested upon arrival to ensure proper placement with other teens of the same Spanish proficiency. This will allow your child to progress from day one at a normal pace. With their many years of experience through the teen program in Sevilla, the school has developed advanced methods in teaching teenagers Spanish so that the classes remain interactive, intuitive, and a fun setting for learning Spanish.
Cadiz Summer Camp Activities and Excursions
From the first day of classes the Spanish Camp in Cadiz will have a full activity schedule to learn about Spanish culture and the history of the city. The Summer Camp also includes sports and other social activities to complete the afternoons, so that teens have a well rounded daily program. The Camp will also provide weekend excursions to popular sites in the Cadiz province and different parts of Andalucia, so that teens can see the variety of locations that Spain has to offer.
Summer Camp Host Family in Cadiz
Cadiz is a smaller sized city so it is easy to provide host family accommodations within walking distance from the camp. All Spanish families are utilized by the Spanish school in Cadiz year round and only the best families host teens during the Summer months. You may provide preferences in terms of dietary concerns or allergies in advance so that the host mother will provide a proper living environment and meals. Three meals will be provided daily including packaged meals when students are attending weekend excursions.
Host families play an important part of the Summer Camp as they act as additional supervision during the evening hours. They ensure that your child follows the rules of the camp so that they remain safe and are in by the designated curfew. They also provide an important means of practicing Spanish outside of a classroom setting.
You will be provided with your teen's host family information at least 10 days prior to the start of the Spanish camp, so that you can have the contact information for the person that will be hosting your teen. You will also be able to contact the host mother in advance if necessary.

Arrival for Camp in Spain
The Spanish school provides a free round trip airport transfer from the Jerez airport. All teens registered at the Spanish camp will be taken directly to their assigned host families in Cadiz upon arrival. Please be sure to provide us with their flight details at least 30 days in advance to arrange the transfers for arrival and departure. All students must arrive
on the Sunday before the start of camp and depart on the Saturday upon completion.
Summer Camp Supervision
As a small city, all major sites are within close walking distance of the school and host family. It is not necessary for your teen to utilize public transportation. All teens attending the Spanish camp will be treated as adults though they will need to still follow camp rules. They must have an advanced maturity level for their age to attend our camp.
There will be times
when teens are not supervised by an adult. You will be provided with a rules for minors form in advance that must be signed by parents and the teen attending the program. This form must be returned to Spanish Abroad before the start of Camp in Cadiz. The Camp directors in conjunction with Spanish Abroad will have the authority to expel any teen from the camp if these rules are not followed for the safety of your child or others. In the unfortunate even that this happens, the teen's parents must provide a return flight immediately upon expulsion. The safety of your child is paramount over all other aspects of the Summer camp, so these rules are taken very seriously.
