Cultural Activities
Don Quijote Salamanca offers
cultural activities in addition to regular language classes. All
activities are available to students at an additional fee.
Dance Classes:
- Sevillanas
- Rumba flamenca
- Latin dances (salsa, meringue, cha cha
cha, bachata)
- Castañuelas (castanets) combination
of different dances
- Flamenco (prior dance experience recommended)
Wine Courses:
Learn Spanish while enjoying
Spanish wines! In this course, you will learn to appreciate and
evaluate the many varieties of Spanish wines. You will study the
various wine-making regions and techniques and get to know the
different characteristics they produce. In addition, you will
also learn their historical, economic, and social significance
to Spain.
Activities and Excursions at Don Quijote
- A welcome dinner with a party afterwards,
on every official starting date for beginners. If you do not
select a beginner starting date, you may participate in the
first welcome dinner following your arrival.
- Guided tour of the city in the first
course week.
- From Monday to Friday 1 extra hour of
classes on special subjects of cultural interest.
- Singing classes where the students learns
traditional Spanish songs (once a week, not available in Barcelona
or Madrid)
- Spanish dance lessons, such as Sevillanas,
the Charro and the Paso Doble (once a week, not available
in Barcelona or Madrid)
- Watching the video or television at each
don Quijote School; selection of Hispanic international films
(dubbed in Spanish).
- Intercambios: you can ask the secretary
of the school for an "intercambio". A direct exchange
of language and culture between you and the Spanish-speaking
counterpart.
- Board games such as chess, dominoes,
cards and crossword puzzles, etc. are available in "el
salon" at each don Quijote School that you can use in
your free time.
- Use of the piano at the don Quijote
School in Salamanca.
Excursions
These
excursions are offered by the school:
Madrid:
visit the world famous museums, shops, and experience the
nightlife!
Ávila: See
one of the finest remnants of Europe's medieval era, the walled
town of Avila.
Segovia: Offers
amazing Roman architecture, Castles, and beautiful scenery
Sierra de Gredos:
A paradise for hikers, these mountains are the biggest in
central Spain.
Sierra de Francia:
With its historic and picturesque little town La Alberca.
