Spanish language school (SA Santiago
de Compostela) organizes a varied program of leisure
and cultural activities outside of class hours. The vast majority
of these activities are free. The Spanish language school offers
at least 2 activities per week. Other activities may be offered
for a small cost. Check with the staff at the Spanish language
school for upcoming activities and excursions.
Examples Of Free Activities
- On the first day of the Spanish language course, the Spanish
language school invites all Spanish students to participate
in a guided tour of the city, followed by wine and “tapas”
at a typical Spanish bar.
- Talks about social and political issues in Spain: the Civil
War, Franco´s Dictatorship, the Political Transition in
Spain, Nationalism in Spain, Stereotypes of Spain and the Spaniards,
Women´s role in Modern Society, etc.
- Spanish Music and Cinema, presented with commentaries, etc.
- Visits to museums, concerts, cinema, bars (cost of tickets
not included).
- Spanish language exchanges with local Spaniards (students).

- Boat cruises along the Galician Coast
- Wine tastings
- Spanish cooking workshops
- Sampling of local seafood
- Outings: National Undersea Park of the Atlantic Islands,
North of Portugal, Rías Bajas (Lower Bays), Finisterre,
fishing villages...
- Sports: horseback riding, scuba diving, sailing...
