| Traditional
food in Vejer consists mainly of succulent meats and vegetables.
Beef, ox, rabbit, pork, chicken and of course seafood is blended
with spices and sauces to create mouthwatering delicacies.
The most typical plates are
fresh and hot 'gazpacho', pig loin in shortening, veal in sauce,
partridge in sauce, fritters, jumbled asparagus, cabbage 'vejeriega'
etc. The typical seafood dishes are the urta plates, hake, gilthead,
tunny and clams with garlic and onion.
Eat outs in Vejer include simple tapas bars to stylish restaurants.
Some server their own specialties along with the regular Andalusian
dishes like Gazpacho, Pinchos Morunos, Huevas a la Flamencas and
Pavías de Pescado.
The town also boasts a good,
traditional pastry shops. Their candies or confectionery pastries
are of old Moorish tradition including 'Cakes vejeriegas'. Also
visit the wine bodega where you can sample the local fino (sherry),
Manzanilla and Montilla.
