City Overview:
Nerja
Nerja
is located on the sunny southern Mediterranean of Spain in a region
known as the Costa del Sol. In years past Nerja was a quaint sleepy
fishing village. Today it is a popular destination for people
who want to enjoy the sun, the ocean, culture and history of Spain.
From a beach standpoint, there are few better spots in Spain.
Nerja has well over 10 miles of white sand beaches along with
warm and clear waters. Any major water sport or activity is possible
in this region of Spain.
To the east of Nerja rises the beautiful mountains
known as the Sierra Almijara. The town of Nerja (Spain) itself
still retains much of its original charm. The old section of Nerja
is full of winding streets, flanked by lovely white washed building
with wrought iron terraces and small flowery gardens.
The center point of Nerja (Spain) is the amazing
Balcon de Europa (Balcony of Europe). The Balcon de Europa is
a promenade which winds along a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean.
This site which offers spectacular views was once the site of
a powerful Moorish castle.
In
town one can find an abundance of restaurants, cafes, bars, and
shops. So despite the smaller size of the town, there are plenty
of things to do to keep you busy throughout your stay in Nerja
(Spain).
Nerja (Spain) is famous for a serious of caves
located just outside the town. Visually the caves are very interesting.
However that is not all there is to it. Some of the caves contain
pre-historic wall paintings dating more than 20,000 years old.
Other caves are large enough such that one of them has been transformed
into an amazing concert hall that is utilized during the summer
months.
We are confident that you will find Nerja, Spain
to be a fantastic place to study and learn Spanish.
